  Laboratory Records.

Designed for record keeping of all seedling crosses made and flasked.  Produces lists, calculates days between pollination and sowing, pollination and pod splitting (for future reference) as well as other data. Anyone moderately experienced in MicroSoft Access can make modifications if necessary. Requires MicroSoft Access 2000 or later.

Orchid Collection Records.

Records plant name, date purchased, source, flowering details, brief cultural needs, etc. Produces lists. Requires MicroSoft Access 97 or later. Price $20.00 or FREE with any purchase exceeding $100.00 (net).

Orchid Genealogy Databases.

These are for those who research their orchids for breeding, purchasing or for writing and lecturing. With them you can produce either a three or four generation genetic chart for any registered name, produce lists of all registered crosses and their parentage and so on.

For researching and locating a specific genetic factor this is invaluable.

The charts (as this screen shot shows) provide a genetic history that increases the accuracy of predicting outcomes of seedling crosses and you know precisely what genetic lines are in every grex.

Genetic charts and lists can be printed but be warned some lists produce 200 plus pages!. The Cymbidium database now holds more than 11000 plus names!

You can also search all names alphabetically in all three ways or search for all crosses made using a specific parent by either seedpod or pollen parent. All current versions eliminate the need to use complex queries. Lists can be sorted and resorted on any column.

And, if a list of all crosses made using a specific parent is required then a list can very easily be produced.

Databases are menu driven and require no programming experience. Each is managed by Microsoft Access 2000 .  Microsoft is said to have indicated that versions from 2000 onwards will run on, and we have successfully tested it on, Vista.

The entire system is operated from this menu.

UPDATING records: Adding future registrations is easy, you can add all new registrations manually - or - for a small annual fee we can provide a quarterly e-mail update that is automatically inserted into the database.

Computer Requirements for all programs:

You will need an IBM PC with a "Pentium 1" 100 Mhz or better, 64 Mb of RAM (128 Mb plus preferred), a CD drive and 1 to 5 Mb of HDD space for each database.

Note:  Some versions of MS Office might require the Jet 4 Access engine to be installed in some circumstances but an error message should indicate if this is so - it can be downloaded free from "http://support.microsoft.com".

All database systems require a copy of Microsoft Access 2000 or later.
